위치 아이콘Ancient Tombs in Noseo-dong 바로가기 아이콘

Although it belongs to the Daereungwon Ancient Tombs Complex, we would like to recommend a lesser-known walking spot called Ancient Tombs in Noseo-dong. It is located within the central commercial district of Gyeongju, along with the Ancient Tombs in Nodong-dong. The 130th mound, known by the alias "Seobonghwangdae Pavilion," is the largest in the Ancient Tombs in Noseo-dong, boasting an impressive size.

here is also a mound named Geumgwanchong Ancient Tomb, notable for being the first tomb where a Silla gold crown was excavated. The tomb's interior has been reconstructed and transformed into an exhibition space.

In Ancient Tombs in Noseo-dong, there is also the Howoochong Ancient Tomb, which holds historical significance as it was the first tomb excavated by Koreans shortly after the liberation of Korea. The tomb yielded artifacts such as the Gwanggaeto Daewang's Howoo, which sheds light on the cultural exchange between the Silla and Goguryeo kingdoms. Furthermore, this place is a picnic spot among both travelers and locals, offering a chance to immerse oneself in the unique atmosphere of Gyeongju. On a beautiful day, all you need is a humble picnic mat to relish the captivating surroundings.
