Information
Introduction
Najeong is a well that holds the legend of the birth of Park Hyeokgeose, the founder of Silla. Before the founding of Silla, the Gyeongju area was the land of Jinhan and was divided and ruled by six village chiefs.
Among them, Sobeoldori, the head of Goheo Village, found a white horse kneeling and crying at the well at the foot of Yangsan Mountain.
Upon seeing a large, shiny egg at the well, Sobeoldori discovered a boy who was believed to have hatched from it.
He then bestowed the surname Park (朴) upon him and named him Hyeokgeose (赫居世), which signifies illuminating the world.
This is the story of Park Hyeokgeose, the first king of Silla.
The site of an octagonal pavilion and an oval-shaped well were located in Najeong.
