The Tomb of King Wonseong, situated on the way to Bulguksa Temple, is the burial site of King Wonseong (785-798), the 38th monarch of the Silla Dynasty.
It is also called 'Gwaereung,' which means a hanging tomb.
The name originated from the belief that when the king's tomb was constructed, there was a small pond in the area, and the remains were suspended above the water's surface before being buried.
This royal tomb is encircled by dense pine trees. It is also renowned for its exquisite stone decorations that showcase the remarkable artistry of the Silla Dynasty.
