Introduction
A forest called 'Gyeongju Gyelim' covers a dense forest of tall trees along the path from Cheomseongdae to Wolseong in Gyeongju.
'Gyelim' means 'chicken forest,' and it is said to be the birthplace of Kim Alji, the founder of the Kim clan in the Silla Dynasty, according to legend.
Initially, it was called 'Sirim,' meaning 'beginning forest.' In the fourth year of King Talhae, a minister was sent to Sirim Forest after hearing a chicken crying.
They found a golden box hanging from a tree and a white chicken crying beneath it. When the king went to Sirim and opened the box, he found a baby boy and raised him as a prince, believing that the boy had come down from the sky.
It is a great place to enjoy a peaceful walk.
