It is one of the best sunrise spots on the east coast of Gyeongju. A 200-300-year-old pine forest warmly surrounds the two lighthouses. Songdaemal Lighthouse was built after the three-story stone pagoda of the Gameunsa Temple Site.
The lighthouse featuring a three-story stone pagoda design atop a traditional Korean-style building, called Hanok, adds a unique charm to the area.
Built in 2001 next to the existing lighthouse, the Hanok-style lighthouse has been remodeled and is now used as a Light Experience Exhibition Hall for visitors to enjoy and learn about various aspects of light.
