Information
Introduction
This is the old temple site of Hwangnyongsa Temple, the largest temple in the Silla Kingdom.
It was built in the center of the Silla capital during the reign of King Jinheung and took 17 years to complete.
In 553, a yellow dragon appeared while the palace was being built, and the king changed his plan and rebuilt it as a temple.
Hwangnyongsa Temple has since disappeared due to the Mongol invasion during the Goryeo Dynasty, but visitors can imagine its grandeur by observing the 9-story wooden pagoda of Hwangnyongsa Temple, which stands at the height of over 80 meters. The temple site is also an excellent place for a walk.
