Information
Introduction
This is the site of Bunhwangsa Temple, built in the 3rd year of Queen Seondeok's reign in Silla (634). It is a historic temple where Wonhyo, a prominent Buddhist monk representing Unified Silla, preached Buddhism.
The Stone Brick Pagoda located at the center of the temple is a representative cultural asset of the site.
The pagoda comprises a wide single-tier stylobate, a three-story body and roof made of stone, and a lotus-shaped head ornament. Stone lion statues were placed at the four corners of the stylobate.
This stone pagoda is the oldest among the stone pagodas in Silla.
