The Haeguk Mural Trail, one of the courses of the Gampo Kkakji-gil Trail, is a wonderful place to stroll, with various stories depicted like intertwined fingers.

Throughout the Haeguk Mural Trail, you can find old Japanese-style houses called Jeoksang Gaok that were built during the Japanese colonial period when Japanese people immigrated to the area. These houses stand as a reminder of the pain and hardships of that time. Take a contemplative walk through the alleyways, immersing yourself in reflection.

There is also a picturesque photo spot along the Haeguk Trail called the Haeguk Staircase Photo Zone, where you can capture beautiful memories.

위치 아이콘Tomb of King Munmu 바로가기 아이콘

Located approximately 200 meters away from Bonggil Daewangamhaebyeon Beach, there is Daewangam, which is presumed to be the underwater tomb of King Munmu.

King Munmu, a key figure in the unification of the Three Kingdoms, declared that even in death, he would become the dragon of the East Sea and protect the nation. In accordance with his final wishes, he was buried in the East Sea as a resting place.

The tomb of King Munmu is widely recognized as a popular place for making wishes. Although it is currently restricted and not easily accessible, in the past, it was believed to be a spiritually powerful site, and it was not uncommon to witness scenes of people performing rituals and making offerings at the site

Indeed, the Tomb of King Munmu is also famous as a sunrise spot where people come to make New Year's wishes. Let us gather in front of the Tomb of King Munmu and express our heartfelt wishes, each in our way.

위치 아이콘Gameunsa Temple Site 바로가기 아이콘

If you have visited the Tomb of King Munmu, we highly recommend exploring Gameunsa Temple Site as well. There are two historical sites in close proximity. Gameunsa Temple was started by King Munmu as a patriotic temple and completed by his son, King Sinmun. The temple buildings have been completely lost, and currently, only the East-West Three-story Stone Pagoda, the site of the main hall (Geumdang Site), and remnants of stone artifacts remain at Gameunsa Temple.

The stone artifacts resembling drainage facilities in the basement of Geumdang attract attention. According to folklore, these devices were created by King Munmu, who transformed into a sea dragon, allowing him to move freely in and out of the temple. The presence of the two three-story stone pagodas guarding the temple grounds evokes a sense of grandeur and awe. These pagodas, known for their elegant and proportionate beauty, receive high praise as exemplary towers from the Unified Silla period.
